Detailed Description

Student Locker Terms and Conditions

Welcome to the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). These guidelines ensure that all students have fair and safe access to our campus locker facilities.

Definitions

  • Locker: A storage unit located in the Keppel Street building (basement corridors) or the basement of the Tavistock Place 1 building ( Education Centre ), allocated by the Reception.
  • User: An actively enrolled student of the University who has been assigned a locker.

Allocation and Key Collection

  • Lockers are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis through our online ePay service: .
  • Upon allocation, you will be provided with a locker key and tag. Please note that the locker, key, and tag remain the property of the LSHTM at all times.
  • Keys are available for collection starting from September 28, 2026.
  • To collect your key from the Keppel Street reception, please bring your student ID card along with a printed or digital copy of your ePay confirmation email.
  • Accessible Lockers: A designated selection of lockers (5 in Keppel Street and 2 in Tavistock Place) are reserved for students with disabilities and are managed outside of the standard finance system. If you are eligible, please contact the School Disability and Welfare Officer located in Student Services (Room K/G20c).
  • Deposits and Fees: Securing a locker requires a £10.00 refundable deposit alongside a £5.00 non-refundable charge. Your £10.00 deposit will be returned to you when you return your key by the specified deadline.

Duration, Payment, and Usage Guidelines

  • Rental fees must be paid in advance through the online shop.
  • Lockers are intended solely for storing personal belongings. Please refrain from storing valuable items, as belongings are kept entirely at your own risk.
  • Locker allocations are strictly personal; please do not allow anyone else to use your assigned locker.
  • Prohibited Items: To maintain a safe and hygienic environment, you may not store perishable items (food or drinks), illegal materials, flammable items, or unissued library materials (or items issued to anyone other than yourself).
  • The University takes the storage of illegal or dangerous items very seriously and will take immediate, appropriate action if any are discovered.
  • Please keep your locker clean and in good working order.

Loss, Damage, and Key Returns

  • If your locker is damaged, or if your key or tag is lost or stolen, please notify Reception immediately.
  • While the LSHTM will provide a replacement key where possible, a £20 replacement fee apply for a replacement key. Please see purchasing option below.
  • Key Returns: Keys must be returned directly to Reception staff (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM). The return deadline falls in September 2027, and reminder notices with exact dates will be sent out closer to the time.
  • Please note: Deposits cannot be refunded if keys are handed to Security staff outside of standard Reception hours. If you are traveling abroad after completing your course, it is your responsibility to ensure your key is returned before you leave the school.

Termination of Agreement

  • LSHTM reserves the right to terminate your locker agreement immediately and without notice if you breach any of these terms and conditions.
  • If an agreement is terminated due to misuse, the student will be permanently barred from applying for future locker rentals.
  • Should a locker be materially damaged or rendered unfit for use, the right to use it terminates immediately.
  • Upon termination for any reason, you must promptly empty the locker and return the key and tag. The University reserves the right to retain your deposit to cover the cost of repairing any user-caused damage.
